October Surprise

The previous tenants here left behind several outdoor flower pots, all filled with dirt and sprouting various and sundry weeds.  This summer I bought a big bag of mixed wildflower seeds and dumped them into the pots, thinking it couldn’t be worse than the weeds, and I was happily correct.

Most of the flowers are long gone, so imagine my surprise yesterday to notice that, despite several days of downright chilly weather, one pot had a crop of fresh new buds and blooms.  Bloom where you are planted, indeed!
